The POV Lounge Reviews: Twisted Vows of Seduction

TwistedVowsCovers1cAbout the Book: In this scandalously provocative soap-drama series, deceit, seduction, and a tempestuous affair intertwines the lives of lascivious lovers who will go above and beyond to keep their sexual trysts a secret, but the curse of temptation will lead to revelations that may result in their own demise.

Still mourning the death of his lover, Denise, Greg Adams conspires to leave his wife. He believes that Denise has come back to him in the form of a woman named Naomi Brooks, and he can’t forget her. But there’s one problem—his wife is going to honor every line in their wedding vows until death does them part.

Naomi Brooks, a recovering alcoholic, enters into an orchestrated affair to deceive Greg by creating the perfect illusion. Will the plan work or will she find herself a victim in a twisted game?

A long-term torrid affair with her best friend’s husband, Jeff, has scarred Nadine Collins for life. Nadine decides she must take a vow of celibacy to cleanse her spirit. While her journey seems impossible, she can see a light at the end of the tunnel. There’s only one problem—she’s still not over Jeff, now a divorcé living life in the fast lane.

Ménage, an aspiring actress, has her sights set on Hollywood. She will do anything to ensure her rise to the top, including robbing Jeff of all the life insurance money he collected after his wife died. But a blast from the past slows her down. When Jeff comes running to her rescue, it proves to be the perfect setup.

Dominique’s Review

In Twisted Vows of Seduction, the book picks up just about where it left off in book one.  We are introduced to a few new characters while still wondering what next for the old characters.

Denise is gone and Jeff and Nadine are trying to move but Nadine has other hopes and wishes. Jeff turns to outside sources to help him cope and in book one we thought Greg and his wife were long gone, but they play a huge part in the second book.

I thought it was a great continuing story. The author did a wonderful job in taking us out of book one and right into book two with a smooth transition. The author gave us big twists and turns and a shocking ending that keeps the reader wanting for me. In a series like this, I would have liked for Book three to come out this summer rather than this winter but I think it will be worth the wait. Good job!

The POV Reviews: Hood Love

image (1)About the Book:

Jonnae is tired, tired of her trifling dude Chink & tired of her chaotic home life. The chance meeting of Capo turns things from upside down to good all around. Take a ride with Jonnae as she realizes your first love isn’t always real love & that hood love can be a good love.

Dominique’s Review:

Hood Love introduces us to a young girl on the hunt for true love. I thought it was a cute story but not enough drama for me. It reminded me of being young in high school.

I was confused about Capo’s character. Some things he did we’re very immature. There were some chapters that were in the book in my opinion to just take up space. I found myself getting bored with some chapters. There were some things in the book that just were not realistic. Some of the things that some of the characters did in the book really should not have been swept under the rug.

I have not read part 2 or 3 but I do believe that the author has plenty of room to make this series great. I loved the ending. That really got my attention and had me wondering what was next. I think it was a great concept and well thought out story line about love and betrayal that many people can relate to. I would definitely recommend this book if you are a reader who loves a good love story.

Twisted Seduction Review

TwistedSeductionbookcoverAn erotic, drama-laced journey into the lives of two best friends who will stop at nothing to have the man of their dreams—even when the cost of betrayal has a price tag neither of them are quite ready to pay.

Thirty-two-year-old Denise Jackson has everything a woman could ask for: a lovely home in the posh Dallas suburbs, a fancy car, a loving husband, and a beautiful nine-year-old daughter, Deandra. While seemingly having it all, Denise still feels incomplete. Her nine years of marriage to Jeff have been nothing more for her than a marriage of convenience to raise Deandra in a stable two-parent home. She pretends to be happily married, but allows her husband and best friend to carry on an affair, giving Denise time to get better acquainted with her multimillionaire client, Greg Adams. But when Denise’s husband discovers he isn’t Deandra’s father after all, her carefully built lies come tumbling down. Twisted Seduction lures readers into an orchestrated web of raw emotion, deceit, infidelity, and sex that makes for an exhilarating read.

Review:

In Twisted Seduction, we meet Denise and Nadine. Best friends that are holding a deep dark secret. Just when you think the book couldn’t get any juicer, we find out just how twisted Denise really is and in the end, I wonder if karma has caught up with her.

Twisted Seduction is just that a whole bunch of twists and crazy seduction. I was pleasantly surprised at how good this book turned out to be. It was a little slow in the beginning, and had a lot of unnecessary details but when the drama picked up, I couldn’t not put it down.

The book was fast paced when the drama kicked in and I was very shocked a lot of the events in the book. Although it’s an erotica genre book, I think any Urban Fiction reader can get into this and enjoy the storyline. Some of the scenes were hearftelt.

There is a part two to this book and I am eager to see what happens next.

Dez is forced into an impossible situation and has to use his street smarts if he hopes to get his family out alive. In this tale of suspense and murder Silk White takes his readers to new heights with this enticing thriller that is sure to have readers on the edge of their seats wondering what will happen next.

Review:

A family decides to take a trip to rekindle a closeness that was lost after the father does some jail time. Stranded on the side of the road, they are forced to depend on someone who wants nothing but  to see them dead.
A very good story from a Street Lit. author. I think the storyline was pretty good and the author did a wonderful job keeping the reader interested. After three chapters I was very curous to see how the author would finish the book. There was incident after incident with this book and I could not put it down. Very surprising from a Street Lit author; and different!
The ending was very surprising! But I did not care for the epilogue. It was definitely not needed. I think there were times that some scenes seemed a little unbelievable. But I do think the author did a good job and it’s definitely a page turner!
I am a mystery and suspense reader, as well as a thriller reader and I think with this author’s genre being Street Lit., they did an amazing job stepping outside of the box. This is a four star book that I would recommened to anyone!

The POV Lounge Reviews: Malicious

Malicious frontcover 450 x 685They say revenge is a dish best served cold. But a bitch like me, Latoya Collins, prefers to throw it in your face like hot grits!

If these scandalous ho’s Jasmine and Nikki think they can get away with screwing my baby daddy Malachi Turner, and taking all his money for themselves, den them ho’s got the wrong bitch!

I’m coming back for what I rightfully deserve; everything! And I’ma make sure these tricks lose it all. What, you mad?

Review:

Malicious, although named a stand alone novel is part of the “Pink Palace” series featuring characters from both “The Pink Palace” & “The Pink Palace: Money, Power and Sex”

From the beginning of the book, it was a page turner. I could not put it down and I knew with McCaulsky’s previous work, he would not fail me. We meet Toy the baby mama of Malachi Turner and she is set on revenge. Situations are set in place to make Nikki and Jasmine pay for their past.

McCaulsky did an extraordinary job in taking me right into the city of Atlanta. Throughout the book I felt like I walked right along side the characters in each scene. He also did an amazing job with the twists and turns that were set in the book. Simply put, he did not disappoint.

I will say that the book could have had a better editng job. There were mistakes in the book that took away from the story at times.

The book ended with a cliffhanger and I am expecting a part four. When he decides to write it and release it, I will be eager to read that book as well. Great job on a phenominal storyline!

Book Review: Revenge of the Orgasm

Revenge_of_the_Orgas_Cover_for_KindleAbout the book: As you are driving, your body involuntarily jumps. Sweat begins on your forehead and appears on your body, even though it is the middle of Winter. Inside of your left thigh, there is a tapping that is not harmful but noticeable. And you begin to wonder if sanity has departed or control of your motor skills is no longer your own. Then, the epiphany becomes clear. This is Revenge of the Orgasm.

About the Author: G.P.A.(Greatest Poet Alive) is an award winning and critically acclaimed author and Poet. To date, he has written four books of Poetry, including his latest, Revenge of the Orgasm. G.P.A. recently was named a semifinalist in the Gwendolyn Brooks Open Mic Awards and is currently touring the country to promote his latest book.

Dominique’s Review:

“GPA is an author that expands his words and moves his readers. I am a fan of GPA and his work. His word flow is amazing and keeps his readers wanting more.

In the Revenge of the Orgasm, I was not surprised with how far GPA took his love for poetry. Poems that told stories, poems that made any woman or man do a double take; GPA has a way of getting his point across plain and simple while forcing readers to read between the lines.

For those who have a love for poetry, this book is for you but, even if you are not a reader of poetry, this book will have anyone, man or woman, turned on by the heat that comes off this book. Great job GPA. Keep the “orgasms” coming.”

The POV Reviews; When the Love is Gone

About the book:

Have you ever wondered why your parents chose each other as mates when they were never a good match in the first place? Ever wondered what your life would be like if you didn’t have your mother’s aggressive temperament or your father’s gullible ways?

Angela “Angie” Frank has grown up in a dysfunctional home, where her only means of coping is through music and her father’s love. The bond she holds with her father stirs bitterness and jealousy in her mother, which creates a life-long wedge between them. When her father is murdered, Angie is bereft. She becomes angry, afraid, aggressive, confrontational, and always ready for a good fight. She’s also ready for a good man. When she finally finds the man of her dreams her aggressive temperament and gullible ways ultimately push him away. Angie is now forced to reflect over her life, examine how and why she became an angry woman and learn to move on even When the Love is Gone.

Dominique’s Review:

“When the Love is Gone is a very good book. Many readers will be able to relate to it and feel from many different aspects of the book. Author Melissa Burnett does a good job at bringing such a real story to readers. I believe that many people would enjoy this book and the direction it takes. I give it four stars.

As with many books, there are some things I did not like about the book. I felt that the ending came too fast. I think their should have been more leading up to the tragedy in Angie and Todd’s marriage. I would have liked a better background on Todd as well. Some of the scenes where Angie acted out in angry showed a lot of immaturity that I did not like and would have rather skipped over.

In the end, I think this book was very good and I recommend it to anyone looking for a good read. Within the first few chapters, I was eager to see where the story went.

Great job!
