The Writer’s Process; Change of Plans

Stop the presses! There has been a change in plans! And as my muse takes me, there is no need in making any plans, because it flows randomly at times, and I never know where I end up. But I digress. My point is that the topic that was scheduled for this month’s Writer’s Process has taken another course. To where, you ask? I’m not sure, but you will be the first to know when I get there.

Actually this is a good time to talk about situations like this, where there’s a change of direction in your attempt to complete your novel. Sometimes a totally irrational thought can throw you off course, or a disruption in your life…or the dreaded writer’s block. Even the simplest change in a storyline can cause ripples throughout your entire novel. Things don’t always plan out the way you foresee it. There are so many obstacles to climb to ride a straight path to success. This is usually the time when you put the pen down or close the laptop, sulking in fits of discouragement. Here’s a plan: plan not to expect things to go as planned.
