VIP with Dominique; No Such Thing as an Overnight Success

One thing that bothers me in the literary world is to see people not working hard for their books. I’m an author, but also a lover for books, reading and indulging myself in a good read. I love a good book. The sad part about it is there are so many good books that people will never get to see for the lack of marketing and pushing of the product.

I do not believe in overnight successes. Yes we may hear about a rapper, singer, author, writer who out of nowhere is the topic of discussion. It does not mean that the night before they were a nobody and now they are some body. Somewhere down the line they had to…what’s the word again…hold on let me think…ahh yes. WORK!!!!!!!!!!!

I come across too many people who write books and think that all they have to do is say “Hey I wrote a book..now buy it” and that’s going to get them the sales they are due. I also do not like authors who are only in it for the money.

If you are an author and publish numerous books and have a large amount of money when you die you will be a wealthy dead man with funds you can no longer use because YOU’RE DEAD! BUT if you are an author and publish numerous books that have gotten the attention of many, not because it was a good read but because someone could relate to it, someone felt the story, you have left behind a legacy. There are people today we will never forget, Michael Jackson being one. He was rich, yes, but he also left behind a legacy. People won’t just remember him because of his money. He was Michael Jackson. Our children’s children will know about him. Don’t you want the same for you and your books; your brand?

Stop running behind a dollar sign and start working for your profits. Stop chasing after the big fish and crawl before you walk. I do not believe in overnight successes. I believe in hard work, persistent, diligent people and if you are not a hard worker, not persistent, not diligent, expect everything to be handed to you, you will be a broke no name author.

Anybody can write a book. Anybody can publish a book. But it takes a certain type of motivation, courage, determination, sacrifices and consistency to see the end product through.

There are so many good books that people will never get to see for the lack of marketing and pushing of the product.

Don’t be a lazy author!
